DIHAD’s Organizing Committee is launching an initiative known as “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” within DIHAD. The objective of this initiative is to use DIHAD as a platform for NGOs and other humanitarian organisations to reach out to the student community and raise awareness of the activities of these organizations. The “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” is expected to attract approximately 500 students from schools and universities around the UAE.
The “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” has been endorsed by the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA) of Dubai who will facilitate the communication with the schools thereby paving the way for students to the register as volunteers. This will also give participating NGOs like yourself an opportunity to identify potential volunteers to support their programmes. As you are aware several academic programs, including the British, American International Baccalaureate – IB etc., have as part of their curriculum a requisite number of hours for community service. The “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” will give the students the chance to learn more about these Humanitarian Organizations in UAE and the potential of conducting their community service hours through these organizations
The arrangement of the “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” will be as follows:
The “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” will be held alongside the DIHAD conference & Exhibition on 8th – 10th April 2008, in Hall 5, 6 & 7 at the DubaiInternationalConvention Center.
The timings are from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on 8th April and 10:00 – 3:00 p.m. on 9th & 10th April 2008
The “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” will take place within the main exhibition hall of DIHAD exhibition as mentioned above. Please note that the participation in the “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” is free of charge.
All NGOs and Humanitarian Organizations are welcome to register with the “First Humanitarian Youth Forum” which will take place within the main exhibition hall of the DIHAD Exhibition as mentioned above. Due to space constraints we are using first-come first-served policy for allocating space to the participating NGOs
Students will be given a common “Volunteer Form” to indicate their willingness to volunteer their time to the NGOs. Once all parties are in agreement than this form will act as a document between both parties subject to the approval of parents/ guardians.
A copy of the Volunteer form needs to be given to the Organizers of DIHAD
The NGOs would need to provide the students with a letter certifying and acknowledging the number of hours of service contributed by the student in their volunteering program, specifying their volunteering activity
Students are expected to arrive at the venue in groups of 30 Students every one hour.
The NGOs are required to mandatorily provide KHDA with a report of the activities done by the volunteers through their organization. NGOs can send this report to DIHAD for forwarding to KHDA.
We would appreciate if you can indicate the number of volunteers your organization can recruit
